World Scout Jamboree - An Explorers personal jamboree experience
WSJ Index
When the Jamboree came to England, I received an e-mail inviting
all explorers on a once in a lifetime opportunity. I e-mailed back
accepting.
I arrived on Sunday 5th August and left on
Wednesday 8th August.
Monday was the day of practising for what we were expected to
be doing on the Tuesday evening. However everything wasn't
perfect until Tuesday afternoon.
At the Closing ceremony, we had to run down to the front, most
people on the end of the rows had their arms outstretched for
high-fives. So on our way down we gave them high-fives, at the
front we had to dance together and basically just have fun. We
also were expected to take the flags down. We were told we only
had five minutes to get to the top of the hill, after doing the flags.
On my arrival I was totally out of breath, having run up the hill.
Our job wasn't over yet. We now walked down behind the huge
light structure carrying glow stick spheres. After our bit, we
distributed the glow sticks, and headed back to Highlands Park.
The jamboree crowd enabled me to stop panicking in front a
crowd.
I was so sad to go, after making loads of new friends and having
had the experience of a life time. I don't think I will ever bebr/
involved in anything as amazing as that again but if I do it will be
an honour.
